Let’s embark on two mouthwatering and delicious turkey recipes. The first recipe is a savory and downright irresistible combination of turkey and bacon. It’s like a symphony in your mouth. The second recipe is an explosion of taste and flavor, a succulent Cajun style turkey, and I can’t wait to share the magic of these recipes with you!
So, let’s get cooking and create a memorable meal that will leave everyone full and saying, I love turkey.
1. Turkey Bacon
Ingredients:
1 whole turkey (12-15 pounds)
1 pound of bacon
1 stick of unsalted butter, softened
4 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 onion, quartered
1 lemon, halved
1 orange, halved
Cooking Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
Prepare the Turkey:
Rinse the turkey inside and out with cold water, then pat it dry with paper towels.
Place the turkey on a large cutting board or platter.
Season the Turkey:
Season the turkey generously with salt and pepper, both inside and outside.
In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped thyme, rosemary, and sage.
Butter It Up:
Gently loosen the turkey’s skin by carefully running your fingers between the skin and the meat. Spread the herb-infused butter mixture evenly under the turkey’s skin, making sure to cover as much of the meat as possible.
Bacon Wrap:
Now, here comes the bacon! Lay strips of bacon across the turkey’s breast and legs, ensuring full coverage.
Tuck the ends of the bacon under the turkey.
Stuff the Cavity:
Stuff the turkey cavity with quartered onions, halved lemon, and halved orange. This will infuse the turkey with citrusy goodness.
Truss the Turkey:
Use kitchen twine to truss the turkey, securing the bacon and holding everything in place.
Roast the Turkey:
Place the bacon-wrapped turkey on a roasting rack in a large roasting pan.
Roast the turkey in the preheated oven, calculating approximately 15-20 minutes of cooking time per pound. I recommend you use a meat thermometer to ensure the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Baste with Love:
As the turkey roasts, baste it every 30 minutes with the delicious juices from the pan. This will keep it moist and flavorful.
Rest and Carve:
Once the turkey reaches the desired temperature, carefully remove it from the oven and let it rest for about 20-30 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute and ensures a juicy, tender turkey.
Serve and Enjoy:
Carve the bacon wrapped turkey into beautiful slices and serve it up to your delighted guests. Watch their faces light up as they savor the incredible flavor.
This recipe is a surefire way to impress your loved ones during the holidays. The combination of succulent turkey, crispy bacon, and aromatic herbs will make your dinner table the place to be. So, go ahead, try this recipe, and savor the joy of sharing a delicious meal with those you hold dear.

Rinse and pat dry the turkey. Place it on a rack in a roasting pan.
In a bowl, mix together melted butter, minced garlic, Cajun seasoning, paprika, onion powder, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper. Brush the turkey generously with the Cajun butter mixture, making sure to get into all the nooks and crannies.
Roast the turkey in the preheated oven, basting with the Cajun butter every 30 minutes.
Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
Let the turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
There you have it, a Cajun twist on the classic turkey that’ll have your taste buds dancing. Thanksgiving brings food, family, and football together, and is a celebration of love, laughter, and the shared experience of gratitude.
